Fire Compliance & Training Services

Veld & Forest Fire Act Compliance — Assessment & On-Site Staff Training

The current transition in national wildfire management has created real uncertainty in on-the-ground fire protection coverage this season. Getting your own staff trained and ready is the difference between managed risk and exposed risk.

We offer direct, practical fire compliance support for individual landowners, lodges, and new farmers who need last-minute help getting their staff trained and ready before the fire season — ideal for properties bordering veld or forest land, and for those preparing for insurance renewals or upcoming risk reviews.

Packages

Compliance Assessment

A full on-site fire compliance assessment conducted by a Qualified Scene Commander, covering:

  • Veld & Forest Fire Act compliance review
  • Firebreak adequacy and fuel load assessment
  • Site access routes and water point evaluation
  • Written report with clear findings and recommended action

Rural Grassfire Survival Course

Farmers and rural landowners work with fire day by day — veld fires, block burns, firebreaks — in a way most workplaces never do. This one-day, hands-on course is delivered on your own premises, using your own equipment, for landowners, staff, farmworkers, or community teams. The course covers:

  • Fire behaviour and early warning signs
  • Safe firebreak and block-burn practice, weather, and official burn permit allowance
  • Starting, priming, and maintaining fire pumps and firefighting units — a different skill set from fire extinguishers and dedicated fire hoses
  • Correct use of the landowner's available firefighting equipment
  • Emergency response and evacuation basics
  • Certificate of Attendance issued by Rietlaagte FPA***

Practical burn exercises are conducted only where weather conditions and an official burn permit allow. Equipment and site remain the responsibility of the landowner.
